Saving Jesus Logo

Ever feel like Jesus has been kidnapped by the Christian Right or the Secular Left? Saving Jesus is a revolutionary DVD-based small group exploration of Jesus Christ for the third millennium. Featuring leading religious voices of our day, the 12-week program includes participant and facilitator guides with questions for discussion. The basic format for each weekly 1 - 1½ hour session includes conversation around the readings, a 20-minute video segment and guided discussion. Join Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan, Matthew Fox, Amy-Jill Levine, James Forbes and a host of others for a conversation around the relevance of Jesus Christ for today. See the color flyer.

There will be an $8.00 one-time charge (for the entire series) to defray costs of the program.

The Thoughtful Christian provides units of studies that are 1 or 2 sessions. Topics of studies are diverse and include theological, spiritual, contemporary, and current events issues. The readings and discussions are certainly thought provoking, often stimulating participants to search their own feelings about the topics discussed. So far the following Thoughtful Christian studies have been done:

The next study will be announced soon.

Ongoing events include:

Sunday Morning Discussion Group
The Sunday Morning Book Group meets at 9:15 am every Sunday in Duff House. The group is currently reading The Faith Club: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew - Three Women Search for Understanding, by Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver, and Pricilla Warner. Selection of the next book is under discussion. Please plan to join us, everyone is welcome.

Suggestions for future study are welcome.

Thursday Bible Study
Bible Study meets every Thursday at 7:30 in Duff House.

Weekly, on Thursday nights at 7:30, a group gathers in Duff House Lounge for Bible Study. Some come every week; and some come when they can. Our texts are the Bible and our lives. The specific book we study is chosen by the group and our time together is spent reading the text, asking questions, discussing interpretations and finding intersections with the ancient text and these times. There are no experts, no lectures. Though the pastor is the leader, we are all students together. Recent books we have read together are Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians, Revelation, and Song of Songs.

Everyone is welcome -- those who have never participated in a Bible Study, as well at those who have been attending for years. Come!

Christian Education Committees
These Session committees develop and oversee the educational programming for adults, youth and children at RPC. The committees work closely with the Mission committee in supporting service projects and with the Congregational Life committee in community outreach.
We ask that you keep the work of this committee in your thoughts and prayers.
