Our Mission

Riverdale Presbyterian Church, first organized in 1863, is a church community whose membership reflects the rich vitality and wonderful diversity of the great city in which we live. The congregation is called and strengthened by the grace of God; committed to the discipleship of Jesus Christ; and trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Worship is the center of our life. In words prayed, preached and spoken, in the beauty of music from organ and choirs, in the joy of friends gathered and strangers welcomed, we find renewal and courage, hope and peace.

The mission of the church community has developed out of our worship life. Ministries grow naturally from the extraordinary range of talents and generosities among us; a fine program of Christian education for children and youth care for the sick, grieving and homebound among us; study groups and seminars; fellowship gatherings and seasonal events; hospitality to neighborhood groups; and service to the larger community.

In these ways and more, this congregation stands as an enduring witness to the Good News. We proclaim the power of love and service to bring healing and joy to our own lives and to lives beyond our doors.
